Community Development

Alfalit International’s community development programs are designed to  help poor people acquire skills necessary to becoming self-sufficient. Participants in economic development projects learn a variety of skills that help their families and their communities to become self-supporting.

They range from arts and crafts to business development projects like raising rabbits, chickens, or fish, as well as community gardens and bakeries.

A community sustaining itself!

Women often are the sole providers for their families and are crucial to sustainable development. Our programs focus on skills that promote self-esteem and equip daughters, sisters, wives and mothers to contribute to the physical, psychological, and spiritual welfare of their families and communities.

Our volunteers also  work in prisons providing literacy, basic education and other programs, as well as training prisoners to become volunteer teachers within the prisons, giving illiterate inmates a chance for a successful reintegration into society.
