Alfalit hosted a teacher training seminar last week led by Pastor Hector Gonzalez. Of the 8 participants, 5 drove from Iglesia de Dios Pentecostal in Clewiston, Florida including the pastor. There are more than 19 different nationalities in their community of which the Pastor had long been in search of a program like Alfalit’s to better serve his parishioners. Iglesia de Dios Pentecostal has committed to starting classes right away and have already registered 6 students. The church will help Alfalit reach individuals in the agrarian communities of La Belle and Immokalee.

Another of the participants was from WeCount! an organization that empowers immigrants and farm workers in in Homestead, Florida. We Count currently has approximately 30 students taking the Spanish literacy classes and they are on track to add more.
