Alfalit Barbara Vega

Meet Alfalit’s newest board member, Barbara Vega. She joins us with a wealth of experience and expertise in international relief and development programs, faith-based fundraising and grant making, and program monitoring and evaluation.

Ms. Vega has held various titles over her career, having been a grants consultant, professor, development director, and program strategy consultant. She graduated from the prestigious University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Economics and Human Resource Management, and California State Northridge with a degree in Adult and Secondary Education with an emphasis on multicultural studies and language acquisition. She has lived overseas and traveled extensively throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, which formed her global perspective.

Through the years Ms. Vega has been invited to speak to leaders and opinion makers on various topics such as diversity, cultural sensitivity training, program development, publications and information design, business writing, and program measurement. She has worked in international relief and development for over eleven years, developing program strategy and working alongside major granting organizations and foundation funders to bring resources to areas of need.  Her nonprofit development background includes having won large federal grants from USAID and the State Department, and also grants from funders such as Proctor and Gamble, Global Relief Alliance of the United Methodist Church, and the National Institute of Health. She is also a guest lecturer for Nova Southeastern/FANO (Florida Association of Nonprofits), teaching grant seeking and monitoring/evaluation for measurement of impact.

Ms. Vega also assists in the improvement of global literacy, education and other humanitarian efforts as the International Grants Director at Cross International She currently serves on the Advisory Board for the International Children’s Heart Foundation, and has served as a board member on the Florida Association of Nonprofit Organizations and the Grant Professionals Foundation.
